About

Life Is Turf

Life is Turf® started with one Bermuda lawn in North Carolina, and a phone camera.

What began as a way to document stripe patterns and lawn care wins turned into something bigger: a home for honest gear reviews, real Bermudagrass timing and programs, DIY projects, and the occasional driveway chalk mural that stops traffic. Every spring, 64 lawns go head to head in Mowing Madness®, the bracket-style competition that's become the best competition in the green industry.

If it's on Life is Turf, it's because it's been tested, tried, and usually mowed over more than once before we told you about it. No filler advice, no recycled tips from someone who's never actually touched a spreader. Just what works, what doesn't, and why.

Matt Le Meur

Matt is a New York City ad guy turned lawn and DIY guy. By trade, he’s a Creative Director, the kind of career built around creativity, imagination, campaigns, and a lot of coffee. And you’ve probably seen some of his work in Super Bowl commercials.

After years of directing behind the camera, he learned what actually makes great content: the storytelling, the pacing, the little details, and the moments that make something worth watching. That same eye shows up throughout Life Is Turf, whether he’s dialing in a perfect stripe pattern, building shelves or turning a chalk mural into a time-lapse.

Along the way, he’s won two Cannes Lions. Credentials you don’t typically find on a lawn care creator site. But the same obsession with craft that drove his advertising career eventually found a new target: his own Bermudagrass.
